After finishing the chassis and putting the body on with the assumption that I would send it out for paint - back in Feb 1999 - it came back off today. See, I originally had the finished chassis wrapped in plastic to avoid overspray and planned to send it out for body/paint like that, but over the last 3 years I changed my mind and decided to put the body on a roll-around body jig and paint it off the chassis. Well today I finally got to check out my nifty new roller jig. I love it.
I'll post a few pics of the chassis in a day or two.
Re: Body Came Back Off Again Today :) (Smokehouse69)
I wish the lift situation was fixed. That's not my house. My friend has Stinger lift and a provision in his ceiling to hang the body sling from, in his garage. We did the removal over at his place.
Its not the go-cart tires I'm worried about. Getting all that torque from a tri-power 427 to hook up is more an issue....
Looks good Nice to see you arn't set back with your project (not letting the hoist failure slow you down :)The sling is exactly how I took my body off. Yours seems slightly further ahead tho. Is it balanced or is the nose dip slightly? How high is that ceiling? Pictures can be deceiving.
The lift situation really hasn't slowed me down at all. In fact, if the lift was still standing and the convert. hadn't been damaged, I'd be spending the time finishing the little nits that it needs to be totally complete. Now that Larry (lbell101) is buying the car I don't have to worry about it. And with the 96 out having a new hood painted and installed, I have the garage free to work! So, on to the coupe!
I have to admit, its an adrenaline rush seeing that chassis again after three years. It held up great considering it spent time in my garage (very short time), outside (under a tarp) and in an airplane hangar! Now I have my 3 page excel spreadsheet of parts I need to finish her up and get her back driving for the first time since '89.
