Default Wheel poll

OK all, I'm trying to decide on which wheels to go with. I'll running 17x11s out back and 17x9s up front

The car is a 79 that will get a pretty serious road racer/track car/ L88 "feel" to it

Very little shiny on the car, lots of flat colors, some legitimate racing/event decals

Thread on build is here

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...restarted.html

SO, IM going vintage but dont know if I want to go Torque Thrust type wheels or a Cobra type whell, either choice will lend a slightly different feel to the car, so vote on what you think and we'll see what hapens

Wheel one, five spoke torque thrust style

Wheel two, Cobra style

thanks all! I'll keep you posted

I vote for neither. Have you looked into BBS Basketweave pattern? Peroid correct, lightweight, and you won't be wearing what everybody else is wearing (Cobra wheels have no business on a Corvette).

Here's what they look like (you can always paint the centers black, I did)

For a serious road race/track car, I prefer the Cobra style. There are too many Corvettes with TT wheels that are wanna be's at best. IMO, the Cobra style wheels will help diffentiate your serious car from others.

There was a dark green '69 Pro-touring Camaro running the "Cobra" style wheels a few years back. It had a Corvette IRS under the rear of it with 17x11s. It looked real good. A lot of Grand Sport replicas run those wheels so that can take a way some of the Ford wheel look. Before you decide keep in mind that if you like the "deep dish" look you won't get it with the V60S like you will with the V40s. Ill cast a vote for being a little different and going with the V60s.

I have to admit part if what I am NOT liking about the TT wheels is the "me too" factor.

And the "serious" look is why I'm leaning towards the Cobra style

I just have never liked any basketweave wheels, they just don't do it for me. They would be a good choice in other aspects, but I have to like them too.

I know the poll is going towards the TTs, but I think hte comments have helped solidify me towards the Cobra style

Any other comments still welcome though, I haven't bought anything yet, so the field is still open, even to late entries.

I do appreciate the comments, helps me sort it out

Peace

Hey mtcraigco,

I just bought the V40's for my car - 17x8's and 18x9.5's. I sold my American 200s wheels and tires in order to update size and rubber. I'll be posting pics in the next couple of weeks.
