differential leak?

differential leak?

after recieving my new diff today i filled with fluid and lube before installing. while installing i noticed a drip coming from the bolt holes where the spreader bar bolts on bottom for the strut rods. after bolting the plate there wont be any leaking. is this common or is it possible that its tapped too deep? any ideas what i should do?

No it is not common. Sounds like someone at one time installed a bolt that was too long in the strut rod bracket and broke the bolt hole boss inside the diff. You need to pull the cover and see what is wrong. Screwing a bolt in there won't stop the leaking.

if it is in fact leaking from one of the mounting holes in the case, you should return it...
