Yes the CEL was about the first thing that failed me, here in Ca, I was also thinking that the light was a must to complete the circuit, but was hoping my test light had enough resistance to trick it into thinking it was there and flash my test light just like the light in the dash, but I got nothing so I will have to try the dash light itself.
