Default Trashing Adjustable Strut Rods...A Few Question ???

I've come to the conclusion that adjustable strut rods suck, so I'm going to change them out with normal ones.
Here is a picture of my set-up. Are the SU-39A struts in the Wilcox link, the ones I need ? They're closed until Monday.....It's a '79.

What problems are you having with the adjustable strut rods?

Can't believe there is anything wrong with adjustable that will be solved by moving to stockers. My adjustables have been in place for many years and never move a hair. And I slightly abuse them!

They have poly bushings, and loosen up within 20 miles of driving. I want to set 'em, and forget 'em.

Just swap one end to a heim joint. Problem solved. Cheaper than new rods.

I was looking at your pictures again and it looks like you engine could really use a true dual exhaust system. I just bought a complete 2-1/2" Magnaflow mandrel bent stainless system from Amazon for $606 including shipping. In case you might be thinking about that too.

I ran poly ones for years in a set of VB rods and again...they were 10 times better than stock because they never moved or loosened. When I put the Dana 60 IRS under my car I needed new rods and installed heim joint style then (custom length made by VB again) and sold the old ones to a buddy..who is still running them.

You got something wrong back there somewhere dude.

Wow, that's cheap...I'm gonna pull the motor and freshen it up, and get headers eventually, so at that point I will be looking to do that...Thanks for the heads up..

I have had my VB poly strut rods for years now. Never had a problem with them loosening up. They do get abused, not as bad as Jims but they do get used hard.

Sounds like you still have the adjust cams installed. They are to be removed before installing the adjustable rods.

Please be more specific, what loosens up? The tubes and the lock nuts or the bolts/nuts that attach them to the car?

I have the ones with the heim joints and one of my lock nuts loosened after very short drive. And I am not the only one this happened to in our local club. I put some locktite in there and no problems solved.

The tubes and the lock nuts, allowing for the camber to go really bad, bordering on clown car, dangerous.

Clean it first with some good solvent or degreaser. It will work if done properly.

I'm sick of messing with them. I'm just going to get solid ones and never have to mess with them again.. I wonder if I can get my originals redone, and just reinstall them...
