I have a Lakewood scattershield that I am going to install... What ballstud do I use now? Ive heard the adjustable ones can be a pain, and some have mentioned a factory Pontiac ballstud?
Put a straight edge across the bellhousing flange that bolts to the engine measure to the top of the ball stud it should be 4.75 inches from straight edge to top of ball stud.

This might be good with a stock setup. But if you run a block saver plate, or an thinner fly wheel like after market bilet steel, or lighter weight aluminums. Those numbers are out to lunch.
I only mentioned Pontiac long pivot ball stud in the past because the same part with the Chevy corvette part number is magically higher priced I got the GM tall for like $13 at the dealer parts counter. I bought an adjustable from Summit and it was like $47 and they wanted you to set it up and then saw off the extra length of the hardened bolt
