My suggestion is to leave it to the pros. I think I spent $150 or maybe a little less having mine removed to replace the broken trim clips, and reinstalled. I felt the window was too expensive to take a chance with myself, so paying a pro to me was money well spent.
I swapped out my rear window last summer.. I took it to the Pro's as well. Apple Auto glass did mine and they did an awesome job since i'm in Canada.. Good luck..
I've done this job a few times over the years and the rear window is actually not nearly as bad as the front one.
We have thin wire here called Bowden cable which is similar to the inner cable on a lawn more throttle cable which is spring steel and is very strong! You could use a guitar string or piano wire and either one and do the same thing. But you have to force the wire in the rubber seal and have 1 person in the car, one person on the outside. Make sure you don't hit the glass but use a sawing motion and the string will cut the seal. If you take your time you will get this out without issue.
The clips will mess with you while doing this and it's a good idea to make sure you replace them while you have the glass out.
Now we also have a heat cutter that will melt though the seal.. tend to make a mess and to be honest I just don't like the thing.
Local installers use a plastic knife attached to a saws all.. and they will tell you before they start that if they break it, they are not responsible...
