Well, now that I just about have all of my parts together for a 134a change over for the 76 a/c, my friend tells me they have a new product to replace r12 called "freeze 12".
Supposed to be similar to r12 but epa approved and better than the 134a.
Any experience with freeze 12 and where to buy it?
It's cheap, non-flammable and compatable with r12 ester oil systems so you can evacuate and recharge without a lot of hassle if you seals are still holding. They also have a 3oz oil charge can for the DIY. It is slightly lighter than r12 so you use a little less by weight - fill to proper pressure with the temp chart. Don't know why it gets bashed a lot - but old-Dupont engineers will weigh in. Check their website

Freeze 12 is pretty poplular around here. A local parts store sells it. Lots of farmers use it in the AC of their old combines. 785.243.7415 is the phone number to the parts store if you need some.
