Default Power brake booster canister - bench test?

Like the title says: Can a pwr brake booster canister be bench tested if it's already out of the car?

I think you can test that the brake booster holds or maintains a vacuum while it is out of the car . You need to use a vacuum pump iwith a gauge and connect it to the vacuum port on the booster. Then use the pump to create vacuum and watch the gauge to see if the unit is holding vacuum, or if it is leaking.
