I could not get my puller on it so I used a pickle fork to separate the valve and pitman arm. Only afterwards did I read the many posts saying "don't use a pickle fork". The power steering is working, but it needs more effort than before. Did I break something or is it just the rebuilt steering box I am feeling?
If you removed the arm with a pickle fork you may have damaged the ball stud or internal components. I removed mine with a pickle fork, and put a pretty good gouge in the ball stud shaft...it sanded out, and shouldn't affect the operation of the internal valve components. did you rebuild the valve after removing it from the pitman arm?? I have my valve apart on the bench currently; it seems to me that any damage that would affect the operation of the valve would be apparent upon inspection of the parts.
assuming you removed the hoses, did you get all the air out of the system?
Usually if you can watch where the ballstud goes into the valve and the ball moves back and forth smoothly (engine off) while turning the wheel you probably didn't damage it.
My steering system is leaking around the control valve and cylinder. I know you guys have had the same problem. So I'm wondering whats the best bang for the buck? New? Rebuilt? Rebuild myself? Running out of money but can't handle the only thing leaking on this 75. Tell me what you think and the best place to purchase. Thanks in advance!!

Sorry about that, this was supposed to be a new topic. My bad!
