Default Gear help

So I'm having the block in my 81 bored and balanced adding new cam and heads and hope to be around 325 hp not a race car by any means but I do want it to go when I step on the gas. So everyone is telling me I need gears but I have no clue what to go with. I saw a couple on mid america 3:55 and 3:07. The car has an auto 3 speed tranny but that will soon be changed to a four speed auto.

I went from 3:70 to 3:08 and can't wait to go back!

You know, for me this has always been a case of personal preference.

I have a few of these old cars and every one of them has a 3:70 and I don't have overdrive in any of them.

To me, I don't have the cars for a daily driver and I have switched from a 4:11 in one, and a 3:08 in another. I just like the 3:70 ratios because it seems to not wind too tight and has decent performance.

I'm not drag racing the cars either... It's just what I like!

My suggestion would be to contact the local Corvette Club and possibly take a spin in a car with a few different gears.

IMHO
