I have a 1978 vette with an L82. Motor is pretty much stock except for new Holley fuel pump & Accel distributor. New AC Delco plugs and new Accel plug wires. Hedman Headers and no cats. When I am at a stand still and punch it, the car hesitates for a second and then takes off kinda slow. Even when I am going around 30 mph and floor it, the car just sits there.
I don't expect to burn off the tires but I feel it should have more get up and go.
Easy to check. With the air cleaner off, move the throttle linkage toward the rear while looking down the primary carb bores. You should see gasoline spurt from 2 small holes as you increase the throttle opening. Can be done with motor on or off. No spurts = bad accelerator pump = replace with known good pump from Cliff's High Performance. Link:
