Side Pipes or Not. That is the Question?

????? Why would reducing the restriction to waste gas flow cost you power/VE/torque?

My car came with side pipes installed from the previous owner. He didn't put baffles in them so they were LOUD with an open pipe 454. I installed the SPS Spiral baffles and the sound was perfect at that point. But this made the pipes get really hot so installed some heat shields and now I'm very happy with the results.
