Hey Guys, I was wondering if someone could tell me about the cross-fire fuel injection. Why did it have the name "cross-fire", was it multi-port, and what problems did it have that gave it the nickname "mis-fire injection". I'm just curious, Thanks in advance.

It's called crossfire because the left throttle body feeds the right cyl. bank and vice versa. It's not multipoint, it's a dual monopoint wet induction speed density system (using a MAP sensor)
Mis-Fire injection is not the only nickname, cease fire, toilet bowl injection and whatever more there is. It's not a bad system, the manifold is a little poor and therefore limits power. The dry flow batch fire & true sequential multipoints are much more advanced though. The CFI is the engine that brought power back to the smallblock after years of deminishing power levels.
I'm probably in for som trouble but I'll give my opinion anyway. I have never believed in the X-ram, just because the top plenum is IMO only made to adapt the TB's and it must fit under the hood. It is VERY small. Also, the flow from the 2 TB's meets in the center and has to make a sharp turn.. there are too many sharp turns in the design where the fuel can fall out of suspension and create mixture problems...
Also, on the CFI vault Ken73 has posted flowbench results on the X-Ram & a ported stock manifold (not ported to max, just a plane jane porting job) and the X-ram outflowed the stocker but not by much. The offenhauser crossram on the other hand.. (that's the one I had set my ccards on.. before I bought the moon style crossram)
I loved the '84 crossfire I had - truely it was my first vette so how could i not love it. But I had no problems with it, contrary to what popular opinion had about it I found the car to be a very strong runner even in Stock form like mine was.
I'd love to have s lightly modded crossfire in a C3 - not only can they be great motors - but they look way cool too
