i have an 82 CE vette, last night after returning from the gas station, i went inside for about 5 minutes and went to take another drive but it wouldnt start at all, i have battery power, my lights turn on and i can hear my fuel pump turn on but when i turn the key to the start position, nothing happens, no clicking from the starter; the lights stay on, but i cant figure out whats wrong. is it the starter, the sol. or this infamous "fusible link" i keep hearing about. Any ideas??

I've chased this a few times in my '75. My suggestion is the starter solenoid is the problem. If you have some age on the starter and solenoid or it's a cheap rebuild, that is very likely the problem. It can be very random and not start at the most inconvenient time. I recommend buying a new GM Delco unit and don't take chances on a rebuild.
if im not mistaken i think it maybe be the original, id have to check with my father to be sure, but its most likely OE, wheres the best place to get a replacement??

I had this problem repeatedly, would not start until starter cooled off. Finally solved it with a Protorque starter from Jegs. Also put heat shield cloth around it - or rather my mechanic did. About 10 years ago and no problem since. Probably the dreaded heat sink problem that disables the starter solenoid when hot.
