Help...I have a 1980, I replaced the motor with a blueprint crate motor, I also went to a Lakewood blow-proof, apparently I put a stock pivot ball in when I actually I needed a longer or adjustable one, the clutch arm was against the firewall and had NO room to actuate the clutch. The throw out bearing is a short one, if I go to a long one and put in an adjustable pivot ball will this cure my ill`s or will it cause me more strife? To add insult to injury when I pulled the motor I find that I have water in two cylinders, this motor has not been run accept at the factory when built. It has been in the car for three year yes I`m @#$%% slow on my project. I had ALL the holes plugged, plugs in, filter on, headers installed. Where did the water come from? Why only two cylinders? Why didn`t the pan fill with water? Is it possible to have leaked thru the breather vent? Water usually won`t run uphill. I am so disgusted with my car and myself

Re: TO bearing. It needs to be matched to the Pressure Plate. Find out what the manufacturer recommends. Buy Lakewood's adjustable pivot ball. It needs to be 4.75" from engine block to the flat on the front of the pivot ball...if you're using a stock thickness flywheel. If thinner, then the difference needs to be subtracted from 4.75".

If you live in a cold climate, is it possible something froze and cracked the block/heads causing the water in cylinders?

Default additional info

thanks for the reply. The motor has had no water in it so it shouldn`t have froze we don`t have that severe of weather here. After pulling the intake and head only two cylinders had water in them, It looks as if it leaked around the spark plugs. I torqued all the plugs the same when I installed them, they were tight. It does have aluminum heads and I realize heat and cold can make things loosen and tighten but it shouldn`t have been that much to allow water pass the crush ring. Inside the head and block their is almost no rust at all, just the two cylinders. I was totally blown away that the block is bored .040 over already. I payed good money expecting a good motor not one about to be scraped. Where can I find the specs on the stock flywheel thickness? I did replace it and the clutch also. I will take some new measurements and check for clearances.
