Default sidepipes

Always carefull to insure I escort passengers in and out of the car, I stupidly forgot myself, 3rd degree burn bed ridden and 2 days outa work. As always I make a point to look at the pipes before ejecting, this time I was on the cell phone, opened the door layed the leg out. Strange I think I heard it sizzle before I felt it. New rule: no more shorts without shields. Funny thing I almost ordered a set last week.

When I first put the pipes on my car I was convinced that I would never need shields because I would always remember to be careful when getting in and out and I would always warn my passengers to do the same. After burning my leg twice I decided that $350 for shields was a fair price.

BTW, I heard the "sizzle" too.

Either my reflexes are faster or my scream drowned it out, but I never heard the sizzle

Covers are in place now. Life is good!

I plan on installing shields but I can't justify the price of steel shields. They look nice but just not $300 nice. Anyone seen Patriot shields or cobra stuff shields on a vette?

I've always been partial to the stock style. Pricey but I love them.

For what it is worth, I started restoring my 69 years ago. Put the factory pipes on but not the shields. Ordered new ones but wanted to drive the car. Myself, wife, two sons and daughter, children were in the 8 to 12 years range, all experienced the burn on the underside of our legs. Once the shields came in, never a problem. They are factory shields and would have spent double the amount to protect anyone's legs.

I really don't want to gross any body out I've still got a lot of bleeding and skin driping off. Hey but if the demand is there and it might save another ones leg. I'll see what I can post.
