Default It Starts....

Ok...now that I've introduced myself, time to unload the questions. My first big problem Im having is when Im at a stop and hit the gas, the car makes a really loud grinding or bogging down kind of sound. Im not sure exactly what it is, and the people who have heard it say they havent heard something quite like that. Ive been told, by someone who works on differentials for a living, that it sounds like it is a rear end problem. So my question is: Has anyone experienced this before and if so, am i headed in the right direction of the problem?

Thanks

Jason

Well, hard to say without hearing it, but I can share my similar story. When I got on the gas, I heard a weird noise and thought the tranny was going south. I setup a rebuild with a buddy and a week before we were supposed to do it he called because something occurred to him. He realized that the noise might be the fan hitting the fan shroud because of a broken motor mount. He told me to open the hood and put the car in gear. (It's an auto.) Then give it gas while holding the brake and see if the engine sits up. Sure enough, it did and the fan hit the shroud making the rapping sound. Ended up costing about $10 instead of $1000+. :)
