i got a 82 corvette but the previous owner put in a 1978 small block engine with a carb on top the engine. it has eldbrock performer intake manifold. The carb is leaking gas... i want to put in a new carb. what is the best carb (name. barrels, cfm) to buy for this set up and what hood or hood type/style is good to use on this car that will give the car good air suction or flow to the carb. the car over heat. it has a flex fan mounted on to the engine.. the fan is constantly running when the engine is running. it has a new 3 rows radiator.

I can't help you with the carb but as far as the overheating issue goes, is your thermostat working? That would be a start. Is the water pump in good shape? Does the radiator have the shroud attached? Any or all of these things can cause overheating.
if the fan is connected to the water pump it is suppose to turn all the time .you said that the motor over heats .what temp does it go to ,check thermostat.have the carb that you have rebuilt.
Yes Sir; These guys are all on the money, look at all these problems first. I had a guy tell me he was overheating, but it never boiled out, if it isn't boiling out (over) it could be the gauge, It ended up being in his mind, it just seemed to be hot. LOL The electric fan relay does not kick in, until it reaches around 230 degrees

it doesn't boil out when the engine is running but when i turn off the engine it boiling in the radiatior container and it coming out from the raidator cap. it heat up to the red line on the radiator temp guage
[QUOTE=hugie82;1577392783]Give us the details on when it overheats? In traffic, soon after start up, highway, going up hill, sitting at idle.....[/QUOTE
when i start the car it runs just fine but it gradually starts to heat up. it also does it, when i just start the car and drive down the road. while driving it will gradually heat up to red line on the guage
Make sure the radiator cap is good, and that it is screwed down tightly. Also be sure there is no air in the system. These are likely culprits if it gurgles after shutdown.
