I am still trying to price out different options for my restore ofthe 72.
I have decided to put in a Rack and Pinion, probably Steeroid.
I would like to set the car up similiar to the 96 that we are getting rid of. It does not have the touring suspension and is much tighter and handles great. The wife loves that setup.
Admittedly I am overwelhmed with the online info of vendors and thought the searches.
I finally decided on the 383 425hp and 700R4.
So here are the questions.
1. What should I (brand/kit etc) look at as far as getting the suspension setup like the 96 or close at least. I already know I need to do all the bushings since they are all rotted.
2. Should I swap the roters and brakes with increasing that engine size so much?
3. My leaf spring needs replacing, so I am curious if I should stay with a leaf spring setup or go with something different.
Like I said, I have read alot on this and I think it just overwhelmed/confused me.
Thanks in advance
Eddie
I have looked at the stuff from vansteel & shark bite, steeroids etc.
Don't expect it to ride like your 96 ever. There are a lot of years of technology from 70 to mid 90s. That said there is a lot that can be done to make it better. VBP has a lot of different options. Mine has front and rear fully adjustable transverse springs and aftermarket control arms. It costs a lot and handles good. It rivals C5s on the autoX but only because I have plenty of power. A good C5 driver will leave me in the gravel pit. The brakes for anythng but track use are fine as long as they are in good working order and you have good pads. I run a hydroboost system on mine and it really helped with the pedal effort. You can definitly improve the C3 suspension but the C4 and C5 engineering is way ahead of the C3/ Think about it the basics of the C3 suspension are the same as what came out in 63. A lot of engineering went on from then.
