Shifter Problems

I have lots of play side to side in my manual transmission and was wondering if there is a way to adjust it out. it makes finding 1st a pita.

Your transmission isn't out of adjustment, your shifter is probably worn. There is no side to side adjustment thru the neutral gate, only in and out of the gears with the shift rods to the transmission levers. Check out this link. Zip sells replacement parts. Have fun.

it moves side to side while in gear almost as much as as when in neutral is that still the same problem. also not the stock tranny not sure where it came from

Mine did the same thing, 1st gear was a PIA to find. Installed the kit and it was a night / day difference.

Thanks a million do you know where i could find a kit for my Hurst 5 speed not the stock 4 speed that came with the car
