'79 Automatic Reverse Lights Are Not Working....

What could it be, before I start messing with things that I have no clue about ?

before ripping the car apart, check the bulbs first.

O.K.....Anyone out there have a decent diagram of where the Neutral Safety/ Back-Up Switch goes ? My '79 shop manual is somewhat vague on the subject. In the console ?....

Under the console, on the shifter.

first check bulbs of course, check frame ground wire for bulb sockets, should be on frame left rear. the neutral safety switch may be out of adjustment. it has two screws and slots so it can be moved. its mounted on right side of shifter under console, you have to remove pass. seat and left side console cover. to get at it. here are a couple of simple diagrams for it.

the bottom diagram shows neutral safety switch. and backup light connector (make sure plug hasnt come loose.)

And the rear screw comes out with what tool ??? Unbelievable...It's basically inaccessible....
