Took the shark out tonight for an evening cruise with the wife. As we were stopped at a light, up pulls next to us, an older version of a Toyota Camry. There was three kids in the back seat and one in the passenger seat, with I guess the dad driving. All the kids in the Toyota were looking at the Vette. The wife and I waved to the kids. As we started to pull away, we heard the dad say that corvettes are slow. After that statement, the dad start going through his pathetic gears, swerves in front of me and cuts me off. Then continues on his way. I could have blown this looser's doors off. However, I chose to just ignore this as#^*@#. Not to mention him putting the kids saefty in severe danger. This dude deserved a summons shoved up his butt!! Why does everyone want a piece of a Vette? L8TER, Paul.
Here's another 1: Tonite I was driving home from work in my 2001 ZR-2 TRACKER Vertible with a Bumper Sticker on the back that sez: "Wrap your butt in Fiberglass, Drive a Vette". A very nice Z-28 Camaro pulls up beside me and sez he wants to run my 4 banger Tracker! I slow up, he slows up.......I speed up, he speeds up. Finally I have to pull off the 4 lane to let the traffic behind us proceed, as its really starting to back up.....GO FIGURE.............   NOTE TO RODNOCK: This was on M-24 between Oxford and Metamora Abt 7PM., 4-18-02.......
I was behind a guy this afternoon in some mid '80's Buick abortion with two kids in the backseat, swerving through traffic, AND eating Chinese take-out! I mean chopsticks and everything! Makes me shake my head.
1980 California Corvette
305ci V8. (180HP) (I beat a kid on his BMX bike once. He fell though.)
Best E/T: 19.01 (I got beat by a stock Corolla! )

LMAO!!!!!!
I know the feeling...my '75 has the original untouched L48 (auto). Skateboarders beat me going uphill when I'm in this car.
don't sweat it guys :D , you have original corvettes of the era,
an' ain't nothing wrong with that. :yesnod:
....when they have built themselves up in false confidence and and pull up next to us (modified vettes), we'll leave them at the line
with the smell of burning rubber and smoking tires and leave their their egos
where they belong....STOMPED UPON !
I just had to share a story that happened to me a couple weeks ago. First, a little background on my vette - I recently bought it, and am piece by piece fixing it up. Currently all 4 shocks are pretty much shot. All bushings etc need to be replaced. The Carb needs a rebuild desperately, but all in all the motor is strong (possibly aftermarket cam?) on an L-48 engine. Now I have the top down (so much for aerodynamics), cruising home on the highway with my girl after a night out. There is no traffic and this fairly new (2001?) Mustang GT pulls up and starts the typical rev procedure - I let him get about about a half carlength ahead while I'm getting permission from my girl - I punch it, and not only pass him, but start pulling on him around 120. Once I had about a car length I just let off it and let him by.
Now I thought for sure I was going to get my butt handed to me, but surprised myself and gained some new respect for my baby (the vette - not my girl although she normally doesnt allow me to have fun like this with her in the car)
I'm starting to wonder if there have been other mods to the car. It looks all original. Oh well just wait until I get a new suspension, rebuilt carb,

It wasn't a Regal with a funny bump on the hood was it? If so, it may have handed you your lunch... and it wouldn't have been Chinese!
Seriously though, as for the original post, I would expect as much from a Camry pilot (and I work for Toyota). Probably has his 800rwhp BPU Supra home in the garage.

no doubt, steer clear if it does....jet black with duals and a GN or GNX for side markers.....it'll tear your heart out ! at one point in history it held the title for the quickest "production line" vehicle.
bamavettes...thought about it ...but my wife was with me and didn't need a confrontation with the sh*% head at that time. However, I like Verskel's idea. :D L8TER, Paul.
So why does everyone want a piece of a vette? The answer. Envy.
I too can vouch first hand on the GN and turbo Buick Regals. In stock form thier very fast to begin with. GM had intentially under rated the power output of these cars. They refused to rate any vehicle that would have more HP than the Vette. Tweak em out and you better really look out. My brother owns one. Its tweaked out. 20+ psi of boost and mid 11's in the quarter mi. The G-force on acceleration is awsome on that car. You can almost feel your face deform as your sucked back into the seat. It makes no difference when you punch it either. From a 60mph roll on the highway, yur doin over 100 in no time. He's been pulled once on the street, and that was by a Z06. From 30 to 90 the Z06 just barely pulled him. I doubt the Z06 was totally stock.
