What size Gears?

What size Gears?

Trying to figure out my gears in my 75, small block. I was told to put a piece of tape on the tire and another on the driveshaft. The rotate tire forward for one revolution and count how many times the driveshaft turns. Well with one tire rotation the driveshaft did almost exactly 3 revolutions. Does anybody know what the gears would be then? Thanks Guys

You probably have 3.08s if the driveshaft was a little over 3 or 2.76s if you were a little under 3.

I'm running 2900 rpm at 70mph. Would that verify 3.08

I have 3.08s and that's about where I am. There's supposed to be some formula that uses rpm, speed and tire size to give you rear gear but I don't remember it.

Thats the easiest way to tell what you have.
