I'm new to the group and had to ask a question. I'm ready to start replacing suspension parts/bushings and was wondering if the "urethane" type bushings are worth a few extra bucks?
Welcome to the forum. Poly vs. rubber hmmm.. Rubber: harder to install IMHO, smoother ride but can dry out and break down over time but no squeaks. Poly: firmer ride less deflection so better handling can squeak if not greased properly, not likely to rot or dry out. I went poly , there is more road feel but the car feels "tighter" handling but replacing 20 year old bushings is bound to make that happen. Hope that helps.

I just got today a new set of poly bushings that will be installing tomorow. I got a complete set for every thing that moves under the car. Got'em from Summit, they're energy suspension part #ens-3-18123 $165. Can't wait to feel the difference! :troll
I have had two cars with poly bushings. The poly bushing transfer more road feel and noise, and drivetrain vibration to the body. They make the car feel tighter BUT.... the control arm bolts loosen up. There have been several threads onthis just recently. If you need to replace bushings, I would use the poly but iIwouldn't do it just because you want poly bushings.
Anyone mix poly and rubber? I was thinking rubber for the main suspension and body then poly just for the sway bars(maybe new and thicker sways too). Any suggestions on a better mix, if a mix at all?

Yeah.. am wondering the same thing. I did the strut rods and sway bar in poly... nothing else yet. As long as you don't mix the two on the same component.. what could it hurt??
