Default Help with engine id

I have a 1973 vette, bought used (of course) and I am trying to identifying this engine. Front left corner near valve covers are these number...... MB15353 If anyone could tell me more about this 350 engine, such as horse power and possible year, I sure would appreciate it. During the winter I found the original # Rochester Qjet carburater. But I not sure if this is going to fit due to the there is no spring coil (for the choke system) on the mainifold. I mean there is but the position for the spring coil is not flat on the manifold but instead on an angle with 2 small holes. (not the bolt cover holes). So how would I hook up the spring coil choke to the carb? Any help would be appreciated.
I was told that this Qjet carb will get me more mpg and sufficient hp than my gas eating Eldebrock. Thanks[/B]

Sounds like a Targetmaster over the counter crate engine made in Mexico. I don't know of any method of decoding the numbers further.

It also sounds like you don't have the stock intake manifold and may need to convert to an electric choke.
