I know I read some posts on this before, but now that it's been in the 80's and I've gotten my Baby out of storage, it's time to get this thing taken care of. This is the case of when driving slowly the transmission seems to keep kicking in and out.
What do I need to know about bypassing this, or possibly repairing it? This is a symptom that I've seen mentioned a lot, and many seem to just unplug it. Where is the plug on an '81, and is this the best solution?
Any info or links would be appreciated as I want to try to tackle this this weekend.
What happens if you just leave it in third or regular drive when in town or going slow? It is not advisable to unplug a lockup converter. Heat issues. Another possibility is an over ride switch. If you get the number, model type off the transmission, there are wiring diagrams in the service manuals. Actually there is a switch which applies power to the lock up on the brake light switch. This circuit can be used for the overide.
