Those look like C5 sport seats.

I have a Shark Bar in mine and it is nice. It made the convertible tub more stable. I do not have as much body shake anymore. It provided a mount for my 5 point harness and my camera mount.

Wow! That looks great! I just installed speed direct's spreader bar in the front and I was looking for something that would reinforce the rear section since I was so impressed by the results of the spreader bar. This set up looks like just the ticket. Is there any cutting or drilling required for the install (I imagine there is- I will read the instructions when I get home from traveling since I cannot download the file on my broadband card)? Where do the heim joint rod ends connect under the car? I am more interested in the added stability afforded by connecting everything together than necessarily the sseatbelt harness since I do not race this car. Thanx.

C5 sport seats. Will they fit in a 77 with a 6'4" 280 lb driver?
I'm interested in how these shark bars install as well.

Not sure on a coupe but on a convertible there is no drilling needed. The Heim joints mount to where the shoulder harness mounts on the rear hump. Just have to go through the carpet but the hole is already there as is the threaded nut. The side ties into where the top mounts. Very easy install and it really firmed up the tub. This is a bonus I got when installed. It used to shake badly going over RR tracks and bumps. The first ride with this in the car was quieter and pretty much rattle free. This in my mind would be worth it alone. I bought it for the harness mounts.

I installed the C5 Sport Seats without sliders and bolting them direct to the floor with brackets to get them as low as possible. If you use the sliders and or seat motors, then you will be to high I would think. As a reference, here is a picture showing the seats as they relate to the center console and if you search others with the sliders, you can see the seat height difference.

Hey, Question..... I don't really care much about the 4 or 5 link harness for they way I drive and live.
....., but I am interested in frame strengthening and rigidity (if not to heavy)...when I put in my spreader bar I noticed.... have you noticed anything like that with the Shark bar?

thx, p

Shark Bar here: http://vetteworksonline.com/

Willcox for the carpet and door panels.

The seats came from a swap meet for $100. as standard C5 seats, converted the padding to Sports Seats.

Bought the seats skins from eBay seller oaktreemotorsinga very nice quality USA made skins. Dennis @ 770-949-8833

(do not buy made in China skins off eBay!!!!)

Default thanks for the input.....

I believe it will be my next add on. I just installed a pair of Pro Car pro-sportsman seats and this will allow me to use a 4 or 5pt harness.

From the Vetteworks website:
Vetteworks LLC products and parts warranties are voided if the vehicle or part is used for competition or if they fail as a result of modification. Vetteworks Harness bars are for low speed applications only.
Is this legal mumbo jumbo or for real useless above 50 mph?
All show and no go?

Depends! I bet it does do a lot to "stiffen up" an older Roadster.

For a "stock" '79 I have to believe it's over-kill........... As an owner of a '79 myself I think I'm qualified to say it ........... it's been a lot of years since that original motor "gave up" but not so long ago that I don't remember clearly how under-powered these cars were when new. 225HP isn't gonna impress or require much in the way of extra suspension or frame strengthening and stabilization to harness it.

This part seems nearly useless unless it's squeaks and rattles you're trying to limit.

Now those seats getting so much positive feed back!!!

What a great addition. That's money well spent!

Fast car or not......... those are no doubt considerably more supportive and comfortable than anything that came in a C3 by far.

Well, I am seriously considering adding this item after my recent install of the Speed Direct spreader bar that made a tremendous difference in handling, steering, squeaks, tightness, and ride of my 78 L-82 4 speed (lightly modified-zero pollution control, 650 Holley 4175, 2.5 inch true duals, McJacks shorty headers, Monza turbo mufflers, roller rockers-not rocker but not a dog anymore!). Horsepower and handling are 2 different animals and you don't need 500 HP to realize real handling improvements. Granted my 78's suspension is highly modified and every little incremental improvement to the handling at this point makes a difference. I have the 2010 Z06 for both power and handling!
