Well first off, thanks for being a US Marine; you guys are the best!
As for your question about auto mechanics at the college level, yes they do exist. In Lancaster, PA you will find Stevens Technical College. They teach all kinds of mechanical trades like Auto Mechanics, Machine Shop, Welding, Metal Fab, Wood working etc. A long time ago, when I lived in Illinois, you could learn lots about Auto Mechanics at Northern Illinois University, College of DuPage, and Triton College in River Grove, Ill.
Check out your local Community Colleges.

I dont think you'll find a Corvette only college, however, there are GM specific colleges that will teach you only GM and even get you into a dealer. Usually while your in college, you will do one semester in school, then the next you will work in the dealership fulltime and it will alternate until you graduate. The good thing is you will usually have a job at that dealer once you get your degree.
Once your at the dealer you can take tons of Corvette specific classes through GM training. its going to be mostly C6 classes though.
I graduated from one of these colleges 11 years ago, and have been working at a Chevy/Caddy dealer ever since.
