Getting new true dual exhaust system installed and was pondering the idea of installing exhaust wrap at that time.
Anyone had any experience with this stuff ?
When it was time for me to get a new exhaust setup I had the muffler shop put the exhaust wrap on for me. Not sure what brand it is but I purchased it from autozone. It's a thick material that's off white in color.
It's been on my car for about a year and seems to be holding up well and temp inside the car is just fine.

I wrapped my headers and all the way back to the mufflers. It cooled the engine bay and interior temps. I first painted the tubes with aluminum paint while off the car, then wrapped the tubes.Wrap headers off the car if possible, you will do a better job. After finished, they were sprayed with high heat silicone paint to keep water from soaking and promoting rust. It has been on there for three or four years and still looks great.

Just my experience (2c worth). I originally wraped my new uncoated headers and after 2 years the steel was like bone china. Replaced with ceramic coated headers and no wrap and they have lasted much longer.
If you are just looking to things cooler you might want to try installing the dual exhaust and see what kind of difference that makes. I did my '79 last summer and it was much cooler inside the car primarily due to the removal of the very restrictive CAT.

I also have a 69 L-46 and it has jet-hot coated headers, inside and out, that are supposed to keep the engine bay cooler. My wrapped 79 headers keep the engine bay and the interior noticeably cooler. I verified this with my infrared heat gun. The wrapped headers do not look as good as the silver jet-hot material, but cooler. I have heard someone telling me second hand that a racer with wrapped headers got brittle and disintegrated. Mine have been wrapped over three years and are not rusted, brittle, or show any change from when wrapped. Maybe the aluminum paint I liberally applied first help preserve the metal, I don't know. My exhaust has been wrapped the same time and also show no sign of rust, metal brittleness, or any other weakness. I did paint everything with aluminum paint before wrapping and silver silicone heat paint on top of the wrap. This is the only thing I can attribute to my good fortune.

I have that 2" wrap on my factory 2.5" exhaust pipes from the manifolds to the crossmember. Works great. You'll need a little more than one roll, use steel hose clamps didn't really think it necessary to go from cross-member back though - but maybe I'll reconsider this Summer!
I've got wrapped headers on mine for about 10 years. Painted before and after, and touch ups every few years. Without unwrapping the headers, I cannot honestly attest to the condition underneath- dunno how anyone could.
One thing to note, If the wrap gets spilled on, big fire hazard. I learned the hard way that tranny fluid can and will catch fire.
