Default Lazy Opening Lights

Hey guys, what are the diagnostic steps to fix sloooooow opening headlights? They open all the way, no droopy eyes, just they take forever to open. We just recently installed a new Headlight hose kit, hoping to solve that, but alas no. :nonod: Any tips ... Thanks fellas, alot of info I am learning about 'vettes. :yesnod:

I would check the actuator seals for cracks or dry rot. This generally is the problem with slow lights, air is leaking out of the system

Get yourself a hand held {brake bleeder} vaccum pump with this you should be able to test the variouse trouble..... spots actuators {seals} ....relays and the vaccum check valve and do not forget to test the vaccum tank itself... just test everything one by one till you find the problem ...also over looked is the headlight switch and the over ride switch or valve....Good Luck

Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. I would say you have a vacuum leak somewhere in the system. Get yourself a handheld vac. pump from your local auto parts store and start testing. A leak almost anywhere in the system can cause slow opening headlights. Some areas affect it worse than others. I'm sure someone can be more specific.

Edit: Wow, two people posted while I was typing. Anyway, as was already stated, test everything till you find the leak.

PS sometimes the problems are not one massive leak but many small ones that really add up and cause alot of problems :seeya

Along with the vacuum and seals - try lubing the mechanical linkage feeding the headlights with WD40. Soak them down and work the lights up and down.
