I've searched the threads and can't seem to locate the answer....do SB 350 have a long water pump or short water pump AND how do you tell the difference?
350 chevys had both depending on the application. If the back of the water pump practically touches the timing chain cover it's a short water pump. If there about say 1/4 inch gap between the timing cover and the back of the water pump, it's a long.
Gen 1 small block Corvettes from 1969 forward used a special "short" water pump specifically for Corvettes. The dimensions are slightly different than those of a standard short Chevy water pump. Using a standard short water pump on your Vette will cause your pulleys to be misaligned.
