I am in the process of getting the 454 ready to install in my 72. I have the Alternator bracket that attaches to the head. Does anyone have a picture of the upper bracket installed. This is a non PS car and I am not hooking up the AC at this time. So it would be alternator only.Drivers side. Yes I have the short water pump. Thanks

The OE cast iron lower bracket bolts to the head, the upper adjusting arm attaches to the intake.....notice this is a non power car and the reference to the waterpump is easy, All correct Vettes use the short waterpump.....If this is a transplant engine with a long pump it could be from a passenger car as some years use the long pump....
By the way, the Zip bracket that 'Ben references is correct...however at 92 bucks its highway robbery....Camaros use the same bracket and are only 1/2 the price .......

This is not the same bracket that is on a Camaro. A Camaro bracket will fit the Chevelle, Nova and maybe even a truck and El Camino, but it does not fit the Corvette.
I realize that it may seem expensive compared to what you USED to be able to buy them for a swap meets and 15 years ago when you could get them from GM. Although we do not make it, it took a small company to pay to have the molds built and to have these cast. That in itself is very expensive, so while they may be more than what they were 2 decades ago, it would be worse if no companies decided to make the investment to make these parts anymore, then you would looking for a used one where someone knows you can't buy these new and they would be $500, just like the big block A/C expansion tanks were until DeWitts decided to reproduce them. There is no such thing as Corvette Tax, there are just not allot of Corvettes so the price of producing the parts get spread out over less parts than say a Camaro whos parts also fit several other vehicle lines and the price gets spread over 10 times the amount of parts.

The brackets for P/S and non P/S were different because the pulleys on the alt were different. The P/S big block car the alt was driven only by the PS where as a non PS car the alt was driven from the crank and waterpump pulley. So you really can't mix and match the setup, you have to go with one or the other depending on you application. If you need help please do not hesitate to call us.
Thanks

The Camaro bracket fits just fine........until you close the hood. Dont ask me how I know this.
Wow, big-block with no power steering, you must have pretty big arm muscles!!!

Not necessarily. Mine didn't originally have power steering or power brakes. Steering wasn't hard if the car was moving. Parking was a bit of a pain. No power brakes was like trying to stop a train...

Ya know, now that I think of it, I have had cars with manual steering, and they weren't so bad, I think I am imagining a power steering car with the power steering conked out.....very hard to steer, if it's ever happened to you, you know what I'm talking about! Sorry to highjack the thread, just consider this a bump, and I will now go away, since I have nothing constructive to offer. See ya!
I have 3 of these, a 67 and 2 68`s.....all factory stock except for the transplants....and all use a cast iron bracket attached to the left head....as my yellow Vette does.....so whats different all the engines are the same size externally?
......
.I cant find a solo picture of the lower brackets but is in the Zip catalogue noted in an above thread

The non-Corvette bracket mounts the alternator higher.

They look identical if you are looking at them on the engine. Yes the same bolt holes on the engine. The issue is the Camaro bracket puts the alternator in a different spot then it does on the Corvette.
