Radiator Fan Problems (Dual Fuan Setup)
I bought the car over the winter and haven't been able to really drive it to see how the fan setup works in real life.
The previous owner warned me to shut the car off at railroad crossings if waiting on a long train (so I knew there was an issue I'd have to address).
Attached are pics of the setup. It's a dual fan setup on a 1975 automatic Vette. Wiring from the fans goes to a ****, along with wiring for what seems to be a thermometer.
My assumption is that the **** is turned to the temperature setting I'd like to have the fans turn on at, and the thermometer reads the temperature coming off the radiator.
I can turn the **** to an always-on position, meaning when the key turns, the fans turn on. This is essentially how I'll have to drive the car, as it will overheat rather quickly I would think without working fans.
I cannot seem to figure out what **** setting (where it should be turned to) turns the fans on at the correct temperature. I've had it turned to several different positions and the fans never come on. They only come on if I turn the **** all the way to one side, which is the always on position.
I'm thinking that this little needle thing is the thermometer, and it must be bad. Any thoughts on that?
Can anyone with a similar setup provide any info? I think anything would be helpful!!
Thanks for looking.

. first i would seal around the radiator with an automotive grade dense foam so the air is directed into the radiator. vendors on this site have kits. second, get rid of that cheap fan control. one of two i would use is www.dccontrol.com or www.dewitts.com.

Looks like I'm going to have to go with a DeWitts setup and try to figure out that jumbled wiring.
Any help is much appreciated!
(I also ordered an additional relay for the 2nd fan as I have a two fan setup)

I hope my pic made it but this is a Flex-O-Lite dual fan and I see summit sells a similar set up with the control for @ $300.
