My 81's door lock system is very tight (or biniding). The electric solonoid tries to move it and does sometimes, but usually not. I can move by hand from inside or outside (with key), but it is tight.
Here is the twist: I have pulled out the rods and hinge points, cleaned and greased (white grease) both sides. The passenger solonoid and drivers side latch have also been replaced in unrelated repairs.
What is binding so? I want to put remote lock/unlock on the car, but it wont work with it stuck like this.
I've noticed the same on my car. I sprayed some lithium grease into the lock/latch mechanisms but I think part of the problem is related to the metal armatures being slightly bent and causing you to lose leverage when locking/unlocking.
I'm going to be home from deployment this summer and I intend on taking all of that out of my door and attempting a clean/rebuild of the latch/lock and power windows. I hope you have some luck in figuring this out.
To use the word 'deployment' means you are military. God bless you for what you do and thank you from a greatful countryman.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm ready to get home, been gone for 6 months already.
I'll be home just in time to see my daughter be born. (missed out on my son due to the last deployment). I'm excited to get back to my family and my ride.
