battery mistake!!

battery mistake!!

I over tightened my negative terminal on my battery. It seems to be stripped in the battery itself. Any ideas on a repair, the battery is new.

Try taking it back, try telling them it just would not tighten up. Got nothing to lose.

I've never tried it, but I have heard people say you can helicoil it.

Exactly what have you stripped? Are you saying the battery post is loose internal to the battery? And turns? Or are you speaking of the cable terminal?

I was guessing he was refering to the later screw in side terminal battery.

on side terminal batteries,
the screw in terminal is simply a nut imbedded into the Lead around it,
too long of a bolt, or too much torq. and you will push the nut right out of the battery,
No perment repair, try and return the battery.
