Default Bolts of cylinder head - 454

Hello from France,

I soon will reassemble my cylinder heads on my big block of 1973.

To avoid the increase of liquids by the bolts of cylinder head, I think of putting this product.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ARP-1...item25619631ba
Is this good idea?

The service manual recommends a torque to 80lb.ft for the reassembly of the bolts.
If I put this product on the bolts, do I have to modify the torque ?

THANK'S

Charly

Didn't look up your ebay, but the torque spec includes the use of thread sealer on the bolts.

Thats good stuff. I used it on my ARP studs. I would stay with specified torque. Bienvenue à gros blocs!

EDIT: I just noticed that product may be different, same brand, but may be different composition. I will check out what they say regarding torque and post it.

Reading some of the info on this it looks like the main affect is on obtaining preload without cycling numerous times. You should be fine to stay with spec torque.

for the head bolts you need to use a thread sealer, not a lubricant, only use the lubricant beneath the bolt heads, thats very important.

Great point. Critical to have sealer on the threads going into the block.
