if the pan is shaped like a square with a corner knocked off its a Turbo 350 if it is an irregular shape down one side gits a Turbo 400. it is a 3 speed isn't it?
On the linkage side, there's a plug going upward with a wire going
somewhere above the trans case....
The trans pan is square with one corner shopped off !
Sounds like the shift kit is what you are looking for, but here is a simple mod to make your stock shifter perform better. I've been driving mine for a couple of months and love the way it shifts. It doesn't cost anything and it gives you the positive shift you want without having to worry about shifting into wrong gear.

What does this confirm ?
Its a TH350c. A standard TH350 wont have any wires going to it.
my 1980 downshifts from 3 to 2 with the slightest pressure but going from 2 to 3 I have to push the button down to accomplish this.It should be the same way from 3 to 2 right? I went to adjust radio bumped shifter and almost went through the windshield. So where do I start? springs cables or should I just order replacement. What would be a good stock looking but better than stock upgrade? Any suggestions and answers would be more than welcome. I seem to be getting conflicting stories about the proper workings of this shifter. Some say it's supposed to work like that and others telling me I am supposed to have to push the button down to downshift (which from a safety point makes much more sense).
