I think the result was pretty :bs. I wasn't personally there since I'm back in London now, but my engine rebuilder took lot of pics and small video as well, so you'll get to see them as soon as I go back to Finland.
Any ways here's what happened. They spend all day running the engine and tuning it for the optimal performance and now the engine should be ready to be put on the frame again and start working on the manual tranny install.
They had several runs and here are the results:
Max HP 541.2@6100rpm
Max TQ 552.8@5960rpm
I was hoping to get in the 600s, but my ER said that this is the max with this set up.
I'll post the dyno sheet as soon as my brother brings it to me here next week.
Re: *** ENGINE WAS DYNOED FINALLY ON SATURDAY *** (groovyjay)
Jay, 540 hp from a 454 doesn't sound bad at all! Trust me, you don't want to build one of these 454's that has great peak numbers and lousy low end torque. This ain't no drag car... With a little head work, I'm sure you'll get your 600 number.
What cam are you running?
What injectors? I would think that engine needs at least 36s.
Re: *** ENGINE WAS DYNOED FINALLY ON SATURDAY *** (Flareside)
Flareside: Yes lowend torque was one of the things I wanted to improve when we started this engine rebuil. That's why we went for oval ports.
There has all ready some head work done...
I'm running crane's roller, for the more detailed specs I'll have to ask my engine rebuilder. As for the injector they are still the original ones, I'll have to double check on the size.
GKull: Yes I know that, but it would be nice to beat those super exotics as well  !!! I'll propably go fo 2.80 final ratio. :smash:
Re: *** ENGINE WAS DYNOED FINALLY ON SATURDAY *** (groovyjay)
I have 2.86 overall gearing in Overdrive. With 26.1 inch tall rear tires. I'm not sure what your tire diameter will end up being. For me to go fast I have to put on 28 inch rears and it still does lots of rpm.
You should be able to red line yours in 5 gear with a 2.80. I have travel throughout Southern Europe and I've seen some of the remains of high speed single car accidents. I came upon police and a cleaning crew picking up parts of some kind of car that was spread over 400 meters. There wasn't even one big piece left. Out on the Autovonia of Spain I would be driving 240 - 250 KPH and get past by Unknown to me cars that had to be going well over 300KPH. I wish America would install toll super freeways like that. It was worth it to me to spend $38 USD just to get on the freeway. It keeps the lesser vehicles off the roads and makes them safer.
Re: *** ENGINE WAS DYNOED FINALLY ON SATURDAY *** (One GM A Tech)
Man  Now that's my kinda guy to be disappointed with +500HP numbers! Wow.......I'd be happy, but if you're aiming for 600 I'm sure you'll get there.
Re: *** ENGINE WAS DYNOED FINALLY ON SATURDAY *** (gkull)
gkull: There was a big accident in Finland just before I left. Some guy was trying to keep up with a Hayabusha with his TT Supra. He lost the control around 280Kmh and... :nonod: Still, the first thing I'm gonna do when this thing is finished is to book tickets to boat to Germany and tour around on the autobahns. :yesnod: BTW what is the lowest final gear you can get with my 1:1 5th gear?!
One GM A Tech: Thanks man. There was a time when I thouht 400hp would do the trick, that moment passed...
Re: *** ENGINE WAS DYNOED FINALLY ON SATURDAY *** (groovyjay)
Jay, since 5th is a 1:1 gear, your final drive ratio will the identical to your rear axle ratio. If you run a 2.73 rear axle, your final drive will be 2.73 :) How fast do you want to go? ;) A 2.73 at 6500 rpms should be good for close to 200 mph!!
