I really find this hard to believe.

I suspect the reason is, they made more power.

I agree! This reminds of those that say that Porsche, Ferrari, C6 corvettes use drilled rotors on their brakes because they look cool and the public wants these type of brake rotors on their cars!

There's no argument, drilled offer distinct advantages, although they scare some old people who believe that they will spontaneously explode at the end of the driveway.
