I have a '69 with the same problem - trip odometer and reset not working - but odometer and speedometer are OK. I have not looked into the problem as of yet, so I am also interested in any response to the question.
Sometimes the trip set needs to be pulled down to get it engaged again.
Mine sticks once in a while when I set the trip.
I need to giggle and pull down some on the trip mechanism to get it to engage the speedometer.
any ideas why my odometer and trip won't work on my 69? My speedo works fine. Anyone else have this problem?
If both odo's aren't working, it's probably the odometer drive gear. It's a little plactic gear that goes inside the speedo. I got mine from Corvette Central a few years ago. Like $7 for a 50 cent plastic gear, but it fixed the problem.
It isn't that hard to install once you get it out. THAT is the tough part.
Disassembling that side of the dash is a MAJOR PITA. You need to loosent he bolts holding the steering column up, drop the column down, remove the cables from the speedo & tach, disconnect the cables that are strapped tot he back of that side of the cluster and somehow pull that whole side of the cluster out. Once you do that it's a matter of some screws and workign your way in there. If you're relatively mechanically inclined, it shouldn't be that bad...once you get the speedo out.
Good luck! (you'll need it :D )

Make a list if there's anything else you want to do while you're in there and have that side of the dash apart.
I replaced my odometer drive gear last month( same symptoms) and it really is quite simple. There's no tricks to it, just a matter of taking your dash apart and putting it back together again. Good luck!!
