never understood The spreadbore And Other. Until i Bought A Jeep With A 2 BBL And tried To Convert To A 4 BBL, put Performer Intake on Engine With Holly Carb And Bolted Right Up then bought Holly double Pumper And it was Just Like Quadrajet, i think I,m going Back With
Original Manifold And Quadrajet See If I Can Get Rid Of Leaks Engine Runs Great Just Idles Rough.

The main idea of the spreadbore design was to have two small barrels to run on at idle and slow speed, so that emissions and gas mileage was improved. However, to keep the same overall performance on WOT, you needed much larger rear barrels to achieve the same overall airflow.

Simple idea, really.

The Q-Jet also has a great design in that gas is metered by airflow on the rear, something the Holley doesn't do.
