I've got the transmission (Tremec TKO), bolted to my Lakewood bellhousing and in the car. I'm having a problem with the tailshaft housing being located to far to the right, and the driveshaft u-joint knuckle coming into contact with the floor.
The transmission yoke is pulled back 1 1/8" from the transmission to bolt to the driveshaft, after having the driveshaft shortened. I have solid motor mounts on the engine.
Is there anyway for me to adjust the motor and tranny so that the tailhousing is more centered with the driveshaft tunnel  ?
I haven't heard of other having to cut their floors for this transmission to work, and I don't want to cut mine. TIA, Mike
Hi. I ran into the same problem. Tail stock too far to the right. The
first thing I did was take an old yoke and drill a precision hole in it's
end, slid in a ground rod and check if in fact the transmission was pointing
directly to the center of the rearend. It was right on so the transmission
did not want to be moved over. The alignment was correct. I then took my 4
inch grinder with 30 or 40 grit paper on it and found out where the yoke hit
and started grinding the fiberglass down. Kept grinding and checking with
the yoke until it cleared. In one spot the fiberglass went all the way
through. Since I didn't want to remove the interior for an internal patch I
just painted this ground area. I have a good floor insulation inside this
spot so I wasn't too worried about a small hole. I will fix it sometime when
the interior is torn apart. I know this looks like bad alignment being over
to the right but it is aligned. Doing anything to pull the tailstock left
results in mis alignment. A little grinding and cleaning up of the
fiberglass is cosmetic and will not hurt so leave it alone. Grind for
clearance, paint the area and leave it for furture fiberglassing.
I am very fussy about my car and I can live with this, if you crawl under my
car it looks spotless and this grinding, slight hole with insulation over it
painted heavily with black paint doesn't show.
Hope this helps
Norval
Thanks for the reply Norval. It's reassuring that it's not just me & my car then ;) . I didn't want to greing the floor any BUT a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do :D . Guess I should get going on it, the car goes to the fab shop May 1. Thanks.

Chuck I did have my face mask on that has the 2 rubber bands and the metal band for you nose on :yesnod: .
Stingy, this swap has been much more work than I anticipated. I cut the transmission crossmember out, and now I need to have a couple of brackets made and welded to the inside of the framerails so the new crossmember can be removable. :)
