I, unfortunately, do not have a garage. I am wondering if anyone else out there in this predicament has had any experience with temporary garage structures or just good car covers that actually keep the weather out?
My recommendation, if you don't have a garage or covered structure to protect your Corvette, definitely buy a good car cover. The best one on the market is the Noah brand cover. IMO, it is by far the best protection against the elements and it is soft enough to protect you paint.
Mine lived outside for about two years in the Pacific NW before I bought a house. I just used a quality cover when it was goinfg to be parked for an extended period. :smash:
I have a cover. Actually, two. I put one that is more of a soft garage cover on first and then a more weather proof one on over that. The last two rainstorms here have been so bad that the water has gone through both covers and gotten throught the weatherstripping as well. I guess I need to buy one of those big blue tarps.
Corvette America has a good deal on now for covers. They are called MaxTech and offer four-layer protection for outdoor use. The price is $99.00US and the part number for the C3 version is X21558. Mine has been snowed and rained on in the last week and no moisture went through. I am impressed and consider that good value for the price. http://www.corvetteamerica.com
I have a small one, but right now the BOSS 302 gets it. I purchased a 12x20 awning at the local Home Depot for $189.00 that works great for sun and rain, but it has no sides, so I still keep it covered. Costco had one like it that had sides and ends and all for the same price last time I was there. The main bummer is I have to keep it chained up, but I have recording video on the house and LoJack in the car for my peace of mind.
At my first house, I had one of these: http://www.coverit.com/ I got a green one and stuck it between a few trees.
It was awesome! The inside was 12x20, so I even had room to work a car in there. It was well worth the $600 I paid for it, and it kept any type of weather out. Too bad they're so ugly ;) I sold it with the house...
Another option is gettting a storage space, kinda $, but it was sheltered. I was paying 75 bucks a month for a 15x20. Fortuantely I moved into a house that has an attached garage so I get a lot more work done now. Oh yea I did cover the car even in the storage bin.
I went ahead and built a garage using metal framing joints, screws, 4x4s, 2x4s, 4x6's, MDF composite sheathing, and tarps. It does take some engineering skills to make sure it doesn't fall on the car though. My final cost was something like $900. The hardware costs almost as much as the wood, something like harware=$300, wood=$500, tarps $100.

Re: Garaged vs. Not Garaged? (pingdashf)
Guys, Be careful on the "Big Blue Tarps" they hold moisture in as well as out. One can be as dangerous as the other.
It makes a pretty good mess when the rain comes and is followed by the bright, hot Sun which makes what water does get under or runs under the tarp on the ground into a steam. This is usually worse than just plain rainwater on your car. It wil even hold the mositure from humidity in your car and create rust or even a place for mold to develop. I don't like waterproof tarps or covers. JIM

When I owned my 69 (sold) I lived in a condo that only had carports (not covered) and no garages. I always put 2 covers on my Vette. The bottom one was one of them WOLF covers made from a breathing material - to keep the moisture out and on top of that cover plastic cover to protect the car from moisture from the outside (rain)...
I live at the beach and have a covered carport. I decided not to use a cover because of all of the cats around here - you can't swing a cat without hitting another cat
I didn't want the corner of my car to look like a kitty scratchin' post.
jeez i am so lucky! I sublet a garage in my little apartment building for 40 bucks a month! (It's locked, and has an extra door on the side literally 2 feet from my front door!) -- The little old lady upstairs doesn't use it, and the building owner approved the sublet...GOD wanted me to have the car (i just bought it) -- or maybe the car wanted me to have it! -- i was checking into public storage before i bought my baby and they wanted over 300 bucks a month for a tiny garage...for those of you who don't live in the LA,CA area -- 40 bucks a month is like steelin candy from a baby! I FEEL SO LUCKY!

I bought a carport kit metal frame metal roof cost 700 from one of the big home improvement stores you can buy the sides to inclose it for extra.Instead Im going to use wood latice and plant roses and vines around it .
We live in a condo with no garage. I use the NOAH cover that really work well.
I cannot get collectors insurance because the lack of the garage. Wifey and I plan to build a new house in the next 4 to 5 years. I will have a major say in the garage and the kitchen (I love to cook). The neat garages in the forum have my attention.
