Default Front Bumper Cover Problems

Here is the low down and I hope someone out here can help me out.
I've been doing a frame restoration on my 76 and I have finally gotten my front clip glued on to the body and I am trying to install my front bumper cover which it seems like its to small.

So my question is are there slightly different lengths in bumpers?
I have done some research and havent seen much of a difference but the more I stare at this front clip I am thinking it might not be a 76 clip but I dont think that there would be an inch difference from one year to the next.

I seriously need some help .. any kind of insight or encouragement I have been workin on this thing too long and I want it to be drive able

Is your front clip new? What kind of bumper cover are you trying to install? When I replaced both my bumper covers I purchased mine from Ecklers I bought the flex fit style. My rear cover fit perfect with only minor adjustments. My front cover fit like crap. I had to grind spots off my front end on one side and do filling on the other side. My car evidently was wrecked sometime in its life. I guess the point I am trying to make is unless your front clip is new you are going to have to do work to make it fit. A few pictures of your cover up to the front clip might help.

my clip and cover are both used
and I am supposedly putting the correct year model cover on.
I guess this cover is for a 75-79 by the looks of it.

well with good news I got the cover on tonight. It just took some muscling and persistence. One side is perfect and the other is just not getting close enough. The one bolt is hard to reach not to mention see. So I guess tomorrow is another day and maybe I can get it sucked in to fit good. If not I guess I can always do some filling in.

Thanks for the help
being this is my first thread and all I wasnt sure how good the turn around is on feedback

Glad to hear you did get the cover up into place. Did you remove the support braces on each side? With those braces removed it is easier to get on to the cover nuts.

I didn't remove the braces. I just stretched and pulled and pushed until I got it into place.

But sad to say when one thing gets done something else always tries and tops it with another problem.

My hood is now closed shut and the latch is broken and I have tried a few things but with no luck.

I guess I am back to searching the forums and finding a solution

Its a good thing I love this car.
