Default Need help putting together a top end kit.

I was curious if anybody who is semi bored would like to suggest or put some links together of parts that would work great with an l-48

I would like it to be 2000 or under in price ... looking for

Cylinder heads
CamShaft
Intake
Carb
Headers

Any other suggest parts you could fit in for 2000 dollars?
Thanks for the time!

I'm no expert but best bet might be to piece something together. With your stock pistons the compression will be low unless you gor for smaller combustion chambers.
Fond am online compression calculator and see what you get with 64 cc combustion chambers or even with 58 cc. Then find a cam that matches the heads. You need a carb also or have the q-jet rebuilt?

No one can suggest anything until we now a piston part number or configuration to get the compression figured out. Put the horse in front of the cart so we can fifure this out. If these are stock dish 4 valve relief pistons I would recommend a set of Speed Pro/Sealed Power Hypers with flat tops, 2 valve reliefs be installed since you are tearing the engine down to hot tanking the block anyway. Those with 64 cc heads you will be in the 10:1 range and can run a decent cam and make 300-350 HP.

with .025 in the hole .028 gasket and 64cc head Id think that would drop him down in the 9s somewhere?

Some pistons are rated at say 10:1 with 64cc head and 0 deck

As you said always good to see what you really got first THEN plan your parts purchase.

OE L48 has dished, low compression pistons. If, IF, IF your L48 is Original:
GM L98 aka ZZ4 heads (58cc)
summit K1104 cam&lifter kit
edelbrock 2101 OR weiand 8001 intake
your expertly freshened QJet carb
whatever headers float your boat

easily 325-340fwhp on pump gas ... easily.

-add-
Scott indicates you're tearing down & hot tanking? If so, it's likely block'll get bored-oversize pistons fitted and ... my approach above does not apply.
