HELP... Installalling Trans Adapt chrome brackets and not sure how..
Bulding a 76 350 with 66 'hump heads' and the alternator bracket for my 76 wont fit because there are no holes in the hump heads to mount anything. To get around this problem I purchased chrome brackets from Trans Adapt and received three packages, four brackets (1 package has 2 brackets). Here are the numbers;
9008
9254
9316
I think I know where the header bracker bolts on but I need to understand how this whole thing comes together.. Does anyone have an illustration or close up pics? I tried to google Trans Adapt alternator installation and nothing came up. Cant find anything on their website either. I rebult this entire engine and cant figure out how to install these brackets. I'm installing in the factory location on the drivers side. Any help would be appreciated.
Do they have a website with a schematic perhaps???

I just called Trans Adapt and blown away at the response I received... I asked if they had any kind of illustration and was told 'NO we have been selling our product for 50 years and never needed one'. I then asked if they had a picture and the answer was still no.. WHAT??
I know I'm not stupid.. when I attempted to install the brackets 2 of the 4 seemed relatively easy but the other 2 are not. In the process of sending an email now and will see if that does any good..

The 9008 bracket attaches to the bottom of the alternator. The 9254 mounts with the cutout over the 1st cylinder and the 9008 attaches to it. Those two brackets are just like the Hooker or Dynomax equivalents for a SBC with headers.
I am not sure about the 9316, but it appears from some googling that it is for a SBC with a long waterpump. The bracket also has some note on amazon that the base mounts to the water pump neck on the intake.
I agree with Sigforty -- the 9316 is for a long water pump so won't work with the short water pump in your car. You should try a 9315, 9319, or a 9079.

I have the long water pump installed on my SBC engine. I'll try and figure out what Sigforty is saying and go back into the garage and figure it out. The good thing is the engine is mounted on a stand which makes it easier to work.

It is a little hard to see, but if you look close you can see the similar bottom brackets installed on the ZZ4 in my 71 below.
