New 1 7/8" SS headers installed
Finally got around to putting the 1 7/8" primary headers on. No dinging no swearing just bolted them on. Now I will take it to the chassis dyno and see how much torque I am going to lose
Clears everything on driver side And passenger side note the clearance of the idler arm, where it looks like
it is near touching is under the idler and not even close Here it is ! Under Car
Now for some things people have legitimate beefs about, Hooker Super Comps, how about starting with a ding that is so big it....well it's just big And welding in a piece of primary tubing about a foot long because it wouldn't clear a plug is always fun
Anyway will keep you posted as to the dyno results

My biggest complaint on the super comps was were the header collector ended up. I had to make a crazy bend down to clear the floor pan. Look forward to seeing your results and those headers look good.
Nice to see them fitting so well. Custom Image promised to send me a replacement passenger side header that I hope is patterned like yours, with plenty room near the idler arm bolt.
Ironically, my Hooker Super Comps need no dinging and fit with all kinds of room and easy spark plug access. Guess it depends on the heads.....I had the same headers on my old 383 with AFR 195s, and spark plug access was a challenge (I even had to make a "custom" socket to reach #6). The current 210 Eliminators have the plugs moved slightly allowing much better access.

The motor specs are in my sig
The gap is there because it wasn't tightened down. The way you put headers on and the exhaust behind it is bolt the headers tight and make everything behind the collector flange fit according so as not to put stress on the header bolts and make removal and installation easy because everything is made to bolt up.
I was just lucky these headers were close enough to the existing exhaust that I can bolt everything tight the day I take it to the muffler shop. At the muffler shop I will tell them to unbolt the collector flange and cut the existing exhaust part off and do it the right way and weld in a piece to connect to the headers that puts no stress on the the header bolts.

These were supposed to be ( and still are to me ) the missing link for big inch small blocks. No-one sells an 1 7/8" primary undercar header so I got in touch with a few guys down south and it took 2 years to get them to market and with all the grief they have been getting I doubt they are being made anymore. I could be wrong.
You can check ebay, I got my set and they are
one nice set of headers for the price of painted Hooker SuperComps you could have got these SS headers, the best headers I have ever had my hands on. And I am very happy
