Default 68 clutch replace..

i'm usually on the c1 forum, but i also have a 68, l79 & cr muncie...

i got a clutch kit from napa, part number, 1104021,,, and got it installed yesterday... the clutch won't disengage, and my 1st thought was either the the throw out bearing, or teh ball stud is too short...any body else run in to this problem? i'm thinking since it is a matched kit, the throwout bearing is probably correct for the clutch, so that leaves the ball stud...
anyone have any thoughts or comments before i tear it down again? can the stud be changed without taking teh trans completely out, looks like there may be room, if the old stud comes loose easily,, but we'll see....
thanks for your thoughts and replies...

Default clutch

Happened to me once, but the root cause was being tired. I put the disc in backwards. Can't tell until you get the pressure plate off, unfortunately.

we heard from napa's clutch supplier,,, he said we needed to get teh longer throw out bearing, cost another $60.00 over teh cost of teh napa kit, to solve teh problem,,, tried it this morning, and the longer bearing hits the front of the trans, so that won't work...

the only thing i haven't tried yet is teh longer ball stud,,,,i called around today and couldn't find one,,,anybody know part numbers or who carries them? chevy (nucar in delaware), only lists one, the short one, which i have...

my next move is to send teh clutch kit back to napa, and replace it with something else,,, can anyone recommend a kit that has a to bearing, plate & disk, other than napa? i got a luk kit from napa last year for the 56, and it was perfect, but since then they changed suppliers....

thanks again for the help...

I bought a new clutch and pressure plate from speedway, they have great tech support that can get a match, or just measure the dimensions. I'm having a similar problem though. I think the same thing may be the issue. But I'm using the stock transmission, with a stock fork.. I don't know why this is happening, the tranny is hard enough to put in, let alone doing it twice. Hope you figure it out.
