There are 4 wires coming out of the bottom, driver's side of the distributor of my 1981 'Vette. They go to a connector that feeds them into the wiring harness on that side of the car. I just bought the car and noticed that the connector was unplugged. I'd like to know what it is before I plug it back in. Any ideas??
Thanks to all,
Bruce
It sounds like the dist. on my 82. Those wires are the trigger/sensor for the fuel injection, they tie into the computer. Did you or someone change the dist.? Is there the matching plug in your harness?
I plugged it back in; the engine fired but didn't start. Then I saw a bit of smoke near the air cleaner so unplugged the connector. Now it won't even fire when I try to start it. Damn!!!!
Any ideas??
UPDATE: I disconnected the battery, hoping that it would reset any electronics. After reconnecting, it started. I wonder what the hell happened when I plugged in the connector!!!
